Telephone fraud against seniors

Published on mardi 24 septembre 2024 in 17:00

A telephone scam targeting seniors is currently circulating in Dunham, BEWARE! If you receive a call from a so-called family member (grandson, niece, etc.) claiming to be in distress (e.g. car accident, detention, hospitalization) and asking you for money quickly, it is a scam - protect yourself. Never give out credit card or bank numbers, or any personal information. Do not buy a prepaid card and do not go to an appointment to hand over cash. Report the incident to the Sûreté du Québec at 9-1-1.
